One of the tough things authors encounter is Branding.

Branding is when you see an author's name, you know what kind of a novel you'll get.

I've spent lots of time trying to figure out my brand. I'm listed under erotic romance, but I'm a die hard traditional romance fan. A sucker for true love. When you pick up one of my books, you're in for a heartwrenching, breathtaking romance.

I also like plenty of sexual tension and soul satisfying sex *wink* between two characters who have fought for love, so I tend to fit in the erotic catergory.

Then there's my unconventional personality. I turn my characters inside out. You'll be plunged into their conflicts and motivations. They'll be like you, or your next door neighbor, someone you can identify with, even if they're from another planet. My characters can also be depressed, or abused. Maybe bitter about love. They'll do things that challenge your sense of right and wrong.
The paranormal element often seems to creep in, too. Many of my characters at least struggle with the belief in life after death.  

 Then I deal with my adventerous streak.
My books almost always have some life-threatening action.

And there's the fact that I'm older now. The blushing virgin herione novel is still fun to read and write, but as we get older, we gain baggage, issues, kidlets, love handles. And yet, our need for romance is still as strong as any twenty-something. That's a desire that never dies. I make that come true. My heriones are likely to be older and more complex. They have kids and complications and yet, true love romance sweeps into their lives.
